The Bakossi Festival Of Arts And Culture
An annual cultural come together of the Bakossi people to showcase cultural and traditional values.
About Us
The Bakossi Festival of Arts and Culture is an annual cultural come-together of the Bakossi people to showcase the cultural and traditional values from within this part of the country in a bid to cement the diversity that the country is famed for. It is an event that showcases the customary prowess of the people, an authority that defends its interests vis-Ã -vis enforcing the Oneness of the Cameroonian people. It is also a cosmopolitan festival where all cultures represented in the Division gather through their local ethnic groups to promote the celebration of the values of social inclusion and non-discrimination on gender, age, origin, or social status. Each year, we, as a people meet at the Government School Premise in Tombel (except venues become rotatory), and for five days, during the Easter period share the values and vision that this festival seeks to uphold

Our Work
Preserving Cultural Significance
At its core, the festival aims to preserve and promote the unique cultural identity of the Bakossi people. It features various activities such as traditional dances, music performances, art exhibitions, storytelling sessions and culinary displays.
Promotion of Diversity
Cameroon is known for its ethnic diversity, with over 250 different groups contributing to a vibrant tapestry of cultures. The Bakossi Festival plays a crucial role in reinforcing this diversity by bringing together different communities within Cameroon.
Community Engagement
The festival also acts as a platform for customary authorities within the Bakossi community to assert their roles in preserving cultural heritage. Leaders use this occasion to discuss issues affecting their people, advocate for their rights, and reinforce communal ties.
